Decathlon Calgary, the future of retail design

The future of retail is here!

Decathlon are leaders in their industry of sports retail. With over 2000 stores in 56 countries, their brand is simply inspiring!

When approached to design the lighting for their new store in the Southcentre Mall Calgary, the results had to be just as spectacular as the 70,000 sq ft location. Uniqueness was crucial.

With online purchases rising, our main focus was to entice customers into the physical store itself. Our goal was to assist Decathlon in creating a remarkable shopping experience and help drive the efforts to increase foot traffic.

Stepping into the future, products from inventory are being brought to customers by robots – a new age automation sure to attract and intrigue! Thus, meaning the staff spend less time in stock management and are readily available to provide customers with specialized advice.

Our lighting solutions needed to enhance this one-of-a-kind futuristic movement while being visually comfortable.

Keeping the branch standards in mind, we began to develop the plan.

Linear and track lights were placed in the showroom and the Decadium (their in-store gymnasium) to create a uniform illumination. Using a CRI of 90, we maintained color fidelity with a white light temperature so that the focal points could be seen clearly without glare.
