A Stellar Lighting Design Project

Mastering the Art of Illumination

Let us start by recognizing that Richporter Lighting is much more than light! We provide expert lighting solutions to enhance spaces, like at Genesis St. Laurent, a car dealer in Montreal, Canada.

Genesis Motors aims for excellence in creating top-notch vehicles with high quality and value. They also strive to provide exceptional service daily, and the lighting design doesn’t fall short of this vision.

Expert lighting design must reflect the excellence and values that define the Genesis brand. Architects in the project wanted to welcome customers with sophistication and class when they walked into the showroom. The aim was to create a memorable and enjoyable car-buying experience.

At Richporter Lighting, we provide lighting designs that create a specific mood, are helpful, and promote brand awareness. Genesis St. Laurent is the perfect example of how professional lighting can elevate a space.

More than light, it is a feeling!

The mission was to light the new branch for the luxury car brand Genesis at St. Laurent. The client needed special lighting for their gorgeous cars. High-end car dealerships must be visually strong to make the vehicles stand out while being warm and comfortable at the same time.

Customers must feel comfortable and connected in the space to remind them of their home and lifestyle.

We aimed to mix traditional architectural lighting with modern LED technology. This helped illuminate the space and create attractive displays. Moreover, this strategy ensured lighting that was aesthetically appealing and energy-efficient.

The Initial Brief Emerges

We discussed the mood, technical details, and lighting with our client. Genesis St. Laurent wanted customers to feel comfortable and connect with the space.

“We had to ensure that the overall space didn’t appear generic”

“We had to ensure that the overall space didn’t appear generic,” explained our project manager. So Richporter Lighting created a plan using the best technology through artistic ideas and functionality. To achieve this, we utilized various forms of lighting.

The showroom

The showroom is one, if not the most critical, area in a car dealership. The main goal of this section is to make the product shine, as this is where magic happens. When customers visit, this is where they first set their eyes on their potential next car. Hence, this area probably needs the most tailored and adapted lighting.

The Genesis St. Laurent showroom has an impressive 24-foot-ceiling height. We used black downlight projectors to blend perfectly with the black high industrial ceiling. This selection adds a theatrical feel to the space.

Precision Lighting for Enhanced Showcase

Highlighting the focal point of the dealership—the vehicles—called for a different tact.  Our lighting professionals suggested the ideal placement for each light. The linear lights go across the room extremely close to one another, tempting to be as diffused as possible. We followed the design and adjusted the angles accordingly. As a result, we improved the overall look and feel of the space and enhanced the cars’ appearance.

The “Kubrick” Room: A Cinematic Ode

The waiting room is a stylish space with a soft white light spread through the grid, creating a magical glow like a stage set. Using fabric to allow light to pass through was a bright idea.

The 12×16 ft panel fabric fixture covers the entire area, creating a unique and enchanting experience. The combination of transparency and diffusion added to the overall effect. Customers will be there for the gorgeous cars

and the complete experience.

Seamless modern lighting for the hallways

Unlike the general showroom area, the hallways have a lower ceiling adorned with modern black pendants. These decorative pendant lights ease the transition between the showroom and the office spaces.

We can also find a subtle ambience in the corridors with a mix of recessed downlights and LED tapes. The purpose is to create a diffused, warm ambient light.

Handover Room

The lighting plan called for linear lights in this area. Installed closely together across the room to create a strong and even spread of light.

This setup serves the purpose of spotting any imperfections in the car while minimizing glare and maximizing coverage. The goal is to create a visually appealing, diffused light effect without completely covering the entire ceiling.

Harmonizing Technology with Aesthetics

The project also embraced the sophistication of control systems. This allowed for choreographed scenes that shifted the ambiance in sync with the time of day or the occasion.

They wanted a vintage look for the offices, so we used suspended lights to highlight the area. They also served as task lights to make the space productive and functional.

Controls and different color temperatures added depth to the storytelling. This ensured the lighting felt dynamic and evolved as a key interior design element.

The Verdict of a Job Well-Lit

The culmination of the lighting design project not only met but surpassed the expectations set by the client’s vision. How the lights and space worked together made a cool experience, showing how artistic lighting design can be.

Visitors and employees are in a well-designed, bright, practical, and emotional atmosphere. It makes a lasting impression and connects the space to the brand’s story.

The Pathway to Illuminated Success

Richporter Lighting designs projects that work and aim to capture the essence of brands in their spaces.

This lighting project aimed to tell stories using light. It also focused on showcasing innovation and establishing a new standard for engaging customers and designing experiences. It also showed how skill and creativity can make practical lighting that evokes emotions, combining both elements.

The expertise and artistry were evident in the creation of beautiful lighting. Richporter Lighting’s designer proposed lighting solutions that serve a purpose beyond functionality. It aimed to evoke emotional responses from those who experienced it.

Genesis St. Laurent illustrates how lighting can transform a space and leave a lasting impression on customers. It sets a new standard for stellar lighting design in the automotive industry, combining functionality, ambiance, and brand identity.
