Restaurant Lighting that feeds the soul

Restaurant lighting is one of the most important features when creating the perfect ambiance for your customers.  It can highlight the architectural elements of the space.

An aesthetically pleasing environment elevates the overall mood and experience. In fact, if you perfect this, among having delicious food and great service, it will persuade people to come back time and time again.

Beautiful and Functional

While a restaurant needs to be visually welcoming, it is imperative that the functionality and performance of the fixtures meet the objectives. The lighting plan needs to keep safety and efficiency in mind. It must provide a working environment for your employees that is agreeable, and service areas that are well-lit so that their jobs can be performed with ease.

There are various areas that need to be illuminated within a restaurant, including the entrance, kitchen, cash desk, dining room, washrooms, and tables. Our job is to ensure that the space feels connected while supplying each area with its own unique lighting. We want to provide adequate lighting to the walkways and facilities, accent lighting to the tables, and add different design elements throughout the space for photo opportunities and social media tagging.

Adaptable for long work hours

One of the biggest challenges with restaurants is their open hours. While most businesses run a 9-5 schedule with artificial light fixtures that supplement the natural daylight, restaurants can be open day and night. This means the lighting design needs to be fully adaptable to the different times of the day.

Tunable light systems offer a fantastic solution to restaurant owners. We have the capability to create and set different scenes depending on the scenario and time.
For example, the beautiful sunset may provide sufficient warm light to the dining area, but the service areas or work desks require additional functionality. You can create a ‘sunset scene’ that will turn on the artificial light to the selected areas only, without affecting the ambiance of the natural glow. You could also have a ‘night’ scene for when there is no longer sunlight available, a ‘late night’ scene for the cozier hours.

Lighting control systems such as dimmers, timers, and sensors, adapt to the surroundings and only utilize artificial lighting when natural resources are limited. These are among the many solutions restaurant owners have applied to their spaces for both performance and energy efficiency.

Table Lighting

When we design the table lighting, we have several factors to consider. Firstly, we want the food to look its best; the color rendering and brightness must work together to bring out the textures and color of the meals on the plates. We also need to consider heat emitted from the light. A customer does not want to be sitting under heated bulbs, so LED is preferable in this situation. Controlling the lighting glare is also one of the most important factors that should be considered. Additionally, if you have adults and children at the tables, we need to make sure the bulbs are out of reach and placed far enough away to avoid accidents.

Suspended pendant fixtures are very popular for table lighting. While there are many minimalistic fixtures to choose from, there are also some stand-out pieces that add uniqueness to a space. See below the Elia Pendant by Lumenwerx. These pendants illuminate both inwards and outwards with multiple housing shapes to choose from. Perfect for making a statement, adding character to your tables, and creating distinct focal points.
