Discover Avril Saint Bruno

In the summer of 2021, the second-largest store of the Avril Santé’s brand opened its doors. Located in Saint Bruno de Montarville and with more than 41 thousand sq. ft, this store joins the healthy, organic, and natural lifestyle culture these supermarkets have been promoting for over 25 years.

We worked alongside AEdifica and CS Design to transform this new space and prepare it for the inauguration.

The aim was to express the essence of the brand and transmit it to all its visitors through architectural and lighting design.

Our previous collaborations with this Canadian chain allowed for the work to be carried out in a more agile way, as the basic structure of the brand’s design always follows the same guidelines. The stores are designed and built around the herbal tea section, nestled in the center of each store under small wooden slatted roofs keeping these areas as the focal point while maintaining the wide CRI index for the large surface.

When visiting one of these locations, it is immediately noticeable that they do not have conventional supermarket lighting, assimilating more to a clothing store, all to enhance the users’ shopping experience.

This environment is created with a warm CCT of 3000 K while still having a high CRI of around 90 so that it is a cozy and comfortable space while allowing the appreciation of the freshness of the food and the colors of the packaging quite well.

Among the main objectives to be met for this location is a balance between devices and natural light entering through the establishment’s many windows.

Another important and fundamental factor for consistency

with the brand identity is being environmentally responsible, and economically smart. This refers to using energy-efficient solutions to seek good lighting performance for lower energy consumption.

To achieve this, we used LEDs and a design with a striking layout, where the existence and location of each device have specific and balanced functionality. Avoiding the ostentatious, the design demonstrates that it is possible to create an environment that enhances the customer experience without the need to overdo it in the decoration.

The result is a minimalist, clean and hospitable space that puts the user and nature first through the strategic placement of spotlights, recessed lighting, and linear lights.
